  • Surgical Skills Day: A full day of hands-on learning taught by surgical registrars. Students will rotate through several stations and try skills above and beyond what is taught at medical school including laparoscopic simulation and tendon repair. The most recent Surgical Skills Day was held on the 10th December 2017.
  • National Conference of Aspiring Surgeons: This is our annual national research conference held in partnership with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and gives medical students and junior doctors an opportunity to present their work to expert panellists. The day also includes skills sessions, clinical simulations and lunch. Abstracts are currently open. Log in or register to the RCSEd website and choose the NCAS to submit your abstract.
  • Regular Suturing Workshops: There will be six of these spread throughout the academic year. The format is small group tuition taught by surgical trainees and junior doctors. Basic and Advanced Suturing Workshops are offered for beginners as well as those who have previously attended the Basic Workshop.
  • Social Events: Medically themed pub quizzes are our current favourite!
